I followed the instructions to a tee, but “error searching for subtitles” appears when I try and download the subtitles to a TV show. OpenSubtitles by OpenSubtitles.org is the service. the only other thing is the “manual search string”, but don’t know what to type in there. please help. I am hearing impaired and need subtitles.
hi, it should work now, please try again.
I can’t seem to get Chinese subtitles to work .
English one work fine.
Any idea why?
It doesn’t work on mine either.

Thanks
Walter
its broke
no its broke
Since a week or two I too get the “error searching for subtitles” message. The addon didn’t work perfectly before either (sometimes I had to search multiple times to get a result) but now it doesn’t work anymore at all.
So now I’m back at downloading subtitles from the website and uploading them to my file server manually.
Is there anything you can do about this? I’ve included the error message from the kodi log file as that might give you some clues.

Hello, up until last night (March 2018), OpenSubtitles was working fine. Now, all I keep getting is “No Subtitles Found”.
I have been trying so many tutorials via Google & U-Tube but to no avail. End of my patience! I have now spent too many hours and am quite fed up!! Is OpenSubtitles “NO MORE”??
What is going on? Please advise. Thank you.
Not working again. 🙁
it is work for me finally Thanks show me how fix C.C that why im deaf I need read subtitles .
Thanks for the guide but you should really add a feature where before getting into the list of subtitles, the users should pick first their language. I know this can be manage through the Player Settings. But for user experience, it would be so much better to go “Pause” -> Subtitles -> Download -> Select Language -> Select subs.
Regards.
I also get “error searching for subtitles”. Using 5.2.14.
it should work now, it was temporary error.
hi, this is in hands of KODI developers, we can not change this.
it was temporary
temporary problem, fixed.
Yeah apparently your “temporary error” is more than just that. Now July 2018 and still screwy.
I’ve been using this for a month. One “open subtitles” app continuously says I cannot download because I’m not logged in (not that I’d know how to log in anyway since there is no option for it…!). The “other” app entitled “OpenSubtitles by OpenSubtitles “ works 1 out of every 50 tries. Very frustrating!! What is the deal with two apps (and no explanation as to which is the “correct “ one) and neither one works 90% of the time? What’s being done about this? Please don’t just say “temporary error. Now fixed” because apparently this has been happening all year. That’s not temporary… Thanks.
I can’t seem to get Chinese subtitles to work .
English one work fine.
Any idea why? tak
Sory all guys.i Dont understand english,i just no very little.i want malaysia subtittle.help me friend
Please..i need someone guide me
what it means, they doesnt work ? Please describe your problem better.
Hello, up until last night (March 2018), OpenSubtitles was working fine. Now, all I keep getting is “No Subtitles Found”.
This is from sunasub. I am getting the need to log in message in downloaded subtitles even when I am logged in according to the top of the Opensubs page. I’ve Been using Opensubs for about 10 years and have uploaded 150+ titles. I use Opensubs because it WAS open to everyone. I have never used any of your offered programs. I prefer doing my work myself. I do not wish to use any of your programs/spyware/advertising. Please advise me what is needed (other than just logging in) to up or download from the site. If you are going to require me to add programs to my computer or Chrome add-ons just to access subs or post them, I will be saddened at the loss of a long-time working relationship, but I will be forced to go elsewhere with my subtitle work. I’ll await the pleasure of your response in the hope that I will be able to continue posting to and using your site. Thank you for the last 10 years.
Hmm… I’ve used Kodi for a while now and always been able to use the OpenSubtitles plugin (From repository) more or less without a problem. Now I’m getting login-errors. I could venture a guess that I’ve used up my quota since I’m also running Bazarr, but when I’m using MPC I’m able to download (With login creds!) basically any subs, so what gives???
Same here. The add on insists on wrong login (username and/or password). Login on opensubtitles.org no problem.
everything is working, sometimes is API down, so it reports that username is wrong.
thanks
Not sure if it is a KODI update or what. But lately Open Subtitles used to work 100% of the time automatically. Now I am lucky if it works at all. Watching the same TV series in the past the subtitles was working all the time. Now it might or might not work. Mainly not working.
I get no error messages or anything. And when I do manually download the Subtitles for a show I am watching it is so far advanced or behind the show that it is basically worthless to use.
In the past I used to get the same errors as other concerning the Login in KODI’s ADDON. But that seems to have been mainly fixed by KODI updates.
I am hard of hearing and it is vital for me to have Subtitles. I am disappointed that Open Subtitles Addon is not working the way it was in the past.
hi, it is working, we had 2 days not 100% service and KODI is reporting it as auth error.

It is so frustrating when our favorite add-ons are not working well when we need them. So its always good to have some backup Kodi addons in such cases. Since I faced the same issue, I decided to help my fellow friends by publishing my two weeks of research on Kodi live tv addons.https://kodilivetv.online. So this article is all about the list of best live TV addons for Kodi.
Step 25: Choose the OpenSubtitles.org by OpenSubtitles Kodi addon.
Addon is not on the repository anymore.
you need to install that addon. But anyway, nothing really changed, use the official one now.
